Gastroenterology

Common gastroenterology complaints by our pet companions are special nutrition diets for pets with GI troubles, also Inflammatory Bowel disease, long standing trouble with vomiting that may need flexible cameras called endoscopes to look inside their intestinal tract. Most patients are awake or mildly sedated during endoscopy. The camera images can be important in determining the root cause of your pet’s GI trouble and if referral to a specialist is needed. Other common ailments are intestinal parasites and microbes causing diarrhea and vomiting, stomach bloat, stomach twisting, jaundice from liver disease, pancreatitis (a gland behind your pet’s stomach which help with digestion of food), and many other conditions in the lower part of their GI, like their anal glands which can become blocked. In cats, hair balls can cause long standing vomiting.
